A job-seeker hoping to land a role at crypto firm Trade Terminal has accused the company’s CEO, Yao Meng, of mocking him for not being a billionaire during a nightmare seven-minute interview.
Peiyuan Jin was allegedly interviewing for the role of Quant Developer at the California-based firm and had already made it through three rounds of the hiring process.
However, as detailed in a post on his LinkedIn account, it soon became apparent that things were about to take a turn for the worse when, according to Peiyuan, the CEO began repeatedly interrupting him.
“As I began my self-introduction, he interrupted me to mock my experience as a software engineer at John Deere, expressing disbelief that a tractor company would even need software services,” Peiyuan posted on LinkedIn.
He claims that Yao then “belittled me for not ‘thinking big’ for the company and boasted that, as an intern, he once persuaded his manager to quit and join him in a crypto venture.”
Peiyuan added that the CEO rounded off the nightmare seven-minute ordeal by saying “I’m a billionaire because I think big, but look at you — you’ve accomplished nothing.”
Peiyuan described the ordeal as the “worst interview experience,” and said, “No candidate should have to endure this kind of treatment, regardless of their background or the companies they’ve worked for.”

Is crypto CEO a billionaire or a delusional control freak?
Despite shouting about his apparently astronomical wealth, not everybody was so quick to believe Yao’s billionaire boasts.
He added, “I hope that by sharing this, others feel empowered to speak up about their experiences and that companies take responsibility to ensure their interview processes are fair, respectful, and professional.”
According to X user MostlyMonkey, “As far as I can tell, the Yao Meng at Trade Terminal is not even close to a billionaire. They have a <50 headcount and he has <500 LinkedIn followers.
“Not to mention the fact that I’ve never met a single billionaire who ever referred to themselves as a billionaire.”
Elsewhere, Reddit users branded Yao “delusional” and “a control freak,” while another bluntly claimed, “Crypto bro doesn’t know shit about fuck.”
Others dug into the numbers with one claiming, “His company said six years ago they manage 10k bitcoins (would be worth $600 million today). He’s definitely trying to flex their AUM as his money.”
Finally, one user speculated that perhaps he “has one billion SHIB.”
