Daniel Larimer, the founder of EOS, BitShares, and Steemit, has predicted that a biblical apocalypse, specifically the one described in ‘Revelations,’ will occur next week.

Specifically, he believes October 9 will be “the last great day” and warned his followers they must be “ready for sudden destruction.”

This has been a theory that Larimer has been advancing recently, even releasing a YouTube video that attempts to explain the prediction. However, he’s far from the first to foresee the end of the world. Indeed, it’s so common there’s a Wikipedia page dedicated to it.

The day of the Lord is described as an attack by a Lion, Bear, and Serpent (Iran, Russia, and China). October 9th is the last great day, I pray that you are ready for sudden destruction, because if the Bible is true Judgment is coming. pic.twitter.com/9N1pJCKNZ0

Larimer has also published a Biblical Tribulation Survival Guide with the subtitle ‘October 9, 2024.’ Some highlights of the document include:

  • that god “described the very dimensions and nature of the nuclear missiles launched from submarines,” which will bring about this destruction
  • that “the tribulation kicks off with Nuclear World War III during which a third of the world will be destroyed”
  • that in 2029 we must worry about the “Apophis Asteroid,” about which we are warned that NASA may be lying and that god could nudge into Earth if he wanted.

However, all is not lost. Larimer’s video takes the view that “an occasional false alarm is better than the failure to warn people to pay attention to incredible activity in the stars.”

And when we inevitably find out that this was another false alarm, chances are Larimer will employ the same tactic as many others before him — claim he was mistaken in his calculations, and announce a new date.

Of course, if by some miracle Larimer is right and we do find ourselves attacked by “a lion, a bear, and a serpent,” we’ll do our best to let you know which blockchain holds up best.
