After HBO documentary director Cullen Hoback announced the release of his next film doxxing the true identity of Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto on 8 October, Twitter was ablaze with speculation. If that was not enough, Prediction market platform, Polymarket shows that 36% of bettors feel Len Sassaman could be identified as Satoshi Nakamoto in the HBO documentary.
Polymarket bettors believe Len Sassaman, a cypherpunk who took his own life in 2011, will be named as Satoshi by the HBO documentary, “Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery”.
The burning question of ‘Who will HBO doc identify as Satoshi?’ has amassed over a volume of $4,137,892, and Len Sassaman’s winning odds have gathered a volume of $501,232.
Upon digging Len’s idea of Bitcoin, we found that he did not seem impressed by Bitcoin as one of his posts on X stated, “Personally, I think bitcoin is overhyped, but the hype itself is interesting,” and he also said, “digital cash experts I’ve talked to [say] that it’s bunk.”
Meanwhile 38.5% bettors feel someone else could be Satoshi Nakamoto. Apart from Sassaman, other names predicted as the Bitcoin creator are Hal Finney, who received the first bitcoin transaction before he died in 2014(6.3%), bit gold developer Nick Szabo(4.4%) and Blockstream chief executive Adam Back(7.2%).
However, Satoshi Nakamoto’s identity reveal might not really be a good idea. U.S. crypto exchange Coinbase had once cautioned that the unmasking of Satoshi Nakamoto is a major risk to its business. Amidst these speculations, one can only wait for the official release of Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery and find out the face behind Satoshi Nakamoto.
