Ripple has announced a $1 million multi-year partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC). This partnership is set to explore how the blockchain firm’s payments infrastructure can enhance cash relief programs and cross-border fund transfers, particularly in crisis zones.
Ripple Teams Up with International Rescue Committee
In a recent announcement, Ripple revealed that its partnership with the IRC focuses on the development of more efficient and secure aid delivery mechanisms. The IRC, known for its extensive global reach in supporting communities affected by humanitarian crises, will work alongside the XRP firm to evaluate how blockchain-based solutions can facilitate the distribution of aid. They will especially focus on areas where traditional banking services are limited.
As part of the initiative, the blockchain company’s cross-border payments system and the RLUSD stablecoin will be utilized to test new approaches in delivering cash relief to vulnerable populations. The collaboration will also investigate how the firm’s blockchain technology, built on its XRP Ledger, can streamline fund transfers.
IRC Executive Comment
The IRC’s deep expertise in humanitarian assistance across more than 40 countries will provide valuable insights into how blockchain technology can support efforts to reach populations in need more effectively. According to David Miliband, President and CEO of the IRC, the organization is committed to exploring innovative solutions that enhance aid distribution in areas impacted by crises.
“We’re excited to partner with Ripple, a trusted leader in blockchain payments, to explore how their technology, like stablecoins, can enhance the speed and efficiency of cash-relief,” Miliband stated. He also emphasized the importance of these technologies in regions with limited access to conventional banking systems.
