Uniswap (UNI) Launches Permissionless Bridging Across Multiple Networks

Uniswap (UNI), a leading decentralized exchange, has announced the launch of permissionless bridging, enabling users to bridge assets across nine distinct networks via the Uniswap Interface and Uniswap Wallet. This feature aims to simplify cross-chain transactions, addressing a significant demand from its user base, according to Uniswap Protocol.

Enhanced User Experience

Previously, Uniswap users faced challenges when moving assets between chains, often relying on external bridges that presented security concerns and cumbersome interfaces. The new in-app bridging feature seeks to streamline this process, offering a more integrated and user-friendly experience.

Technical Backbone

The bridging functionality is powered by Across Protocol, a decentralized network known for its fast and secure cross-chain transactions. Across Protocol distinguishes itself by operating through a permissionless system of liquidity pools and relayers, allowing for rapid settlements within seconds.

Supported Networks and Assets

At launch, the bridging service will support Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, OP Mainnet, Zora, Blast, World Chain, and ZKsync. Users will be able to bridge native assets such as ETH on Ethereum or ARB on Arbitrum, as well as stablecoins.

How to Use the Bridging Feature

To utilize the new bridging feature, users can follow these steps:

  1. Access the Uniswap Interface or Uniswap Wallet.
  2. Navigate to the swap modal.
  3. Select the asset to bridge, such as ETH or USDC.
  4. Choose the target network for the swap across networks.
  5. Confirm the transaction to complete the bridging process.

Future Prospects

Uniswap Labs is committed to enhancing its offerings for a multi-chain world, aiming to provide seamless cross-chain experiences. The introduction of in-app bridging is a step towards fulfilling this vision, with more features expected to follow.
