Two days ago, the hacker moved $6.5 million worth of the stolen crypto through the same sanctioned crypto mixer Tornado Cash. Tornado Cash allows crypto users to exchange tokens while masking wallet addresses on several blockchains.

In July, WazirX experienced a security breach in one of its multi-sig wallets, resulting in the loss of nearly $100 million in Shiba Inu (SHIB) and $52 million in ether, among other assets, from the exchange.

As indicated in a June 2024 report, the stolen cash accounted for more than 45% of the exchange’s reserves. Subsequently, the exchange filed for a restructuring process to resolve liabilities.
